About us

The Ruffilli Library makes a remarkable cultural and historical heritage available to students, researchers, professors and citizens through a wide range of resources and qualified services.

History

The library is named after the Forlì-born professor and senator Roberto Ruffilli who was killed by the Red Brigades on 16 April 1988 in Forlì.

Around the original core - comprising five thousand volumes from the senator’s personal library - the Library of the Degree Programme in Political Science with a Political-International focus was established in 1990, following the University of Bologna’s expansion into Romagna.

In 1994 the Library moved from its original location in Palazzo Orsi Mangelli to the Pallareti pavilion of the former Morgagni Hospital, the site designated for the future University Campus.

From 1995 it incorporated the libraries of the Advanced School of Modern Languages for Interpreters and Translators, the Faculty of Political Science and the Faculty of Economics.
